From an unannounced visit on a cold, rainy day to a fully confirmed custom home project

A True Project Story About Trust and Custom Craftsmanship

November 17.2025  is a date I remember very clearly.
Not because I have a particularly good memory, but because of a few photos on my phone. Every time I look at them now, I can’t help but smile — and feel a little sympathy at the same time.

That day, the temperature in Zhejiang had dropped noticeably. A cold rain had been falling steadily since early morning.

Very early that day, we received a message from a client:
“I’ve arrived at your company.”

We froze for a moment.
Because — we had no idea that any client was coming that day.

An Unannounced Cross-Border Visit

This client, let’s call him M.

M is an American builder. This project wasn’t for one of his clients — it was for himself. He was building his own single-family home, which is exactly why he decided to fly all the way to China to personally select the right whole-house millwork supplier.

His first stops were Guangzhou and Foshan.

In November, Guangzhou is still quite warm.
So when M finally stood in front of us —
he was wearing knee-length shorts and a short-sleeve T-shirt, fully dressed for summer.

Meanwhile, in Zhejiang, the cold rain was falling relentlessly.

To make things even more interesting, we had just moved offices and hadn’t yet updated the address on our website. M first went to our old location. By the time we reached him and guided him to the new one, he had already spent quite some time out in the rain.

When he arrived at the new office by taxi, I watched him shivering slightly, still maintaining a polite smile. I felt both impressed — and a little sorry for him.

(We offered to take him to a nearby mall to pick up something warmer, but M smiled and declined.
He said he was simply used to wearing short sleeves.)

Why Foshan Didn’t Keep Him — and Why We Did

It was during our conversation that we truly understood the background of his visit.

Foshan furniture is world-famous.
Great quality, competitive pricing — ideal for large-scale projects such as apartments, hotels, and commercial developments.

But what M needed was something different:
a fully customized solution for his own single-family home.

High-level customization, complex details, integrated doors, wall panels, and cabinetry — all of this demands strong design coordination and manufacturing execution.

That happens to be our strength.

After reviewing his drawings briefly, we were confident in our ability to bring his vision to life. Once we explained our basic pricing logic, we invited him to visit our factory directly.

From Strong Confidence to Sudden Silence

At the factory, M was extremely attentive.
He carefully reviewed everything — from production workflows to craftsmanship details — and clearly expressed his approval of our quality and system.

After the visit, we had a meal together and then drove him to the airport.
He flew from Zhejiang back to Guangzhou, and then returned to the U.S.

Before leaving, he said one more thing:
“Once I’m back home, I’ll confirm the order immediately.”

We all felt confident — this project was basically secured.

Then, for the next few days:
no email replies, no messages read.

Honestly, we were worried.
We kept reviewing everything internally:
Was there an issue with our reception?
Was our communication not professional enough?
Did we fail to explain the pricing structure clearly?

The Truth: A Bad Cold After the Rain

A few days later, M finally replied.

One sentence erased all our doubts:
“Don’t worry, the order is fine. I caught a severe cold after returning home and was hospitalized.”

We felt relieved — and only then did it click.
It was probably that cold, rainy day in Zhejiang.

Where We Are Now

As of today:

All customization details have been fully confirmed

The renderings are completed

The client is very satisfied

Production drawings are being released to the workshop, preparing for manufacturing

As I write this story, I feel genuinely at ease.

The process had its twists and turns,
but the outcome is a good one.

More importantly, this is a trust built across thousands of miles —
starting with an unannounced visit on a cold, rainy day.

After the Chinese New Year, we look forward to seeing these cabinets cross the ocean and finally find their place in M’s new home.
